Hause Hall Wedding Venue Guide
As a photographer I’ve been very lucky to photograph several weddings here, but my bonus card is that I also got married here myself, which I hope gives me a little extra knowledge to write a wee Hause Hall wedding venue guide… how to get the best out of your day when you’re DIYing a small wedding AND how to get the best out of your wedding photographs… Let’s go!
Nestled half way up Hallin Fell, Hause Hall isn’t a venue for a large wedding, it’s a venue for an intimate affair where you and your guests can switch off (literally, as there’s no phone signal) and enjoy the celebrations. You can’t travel much further by car so the only passers by are walkers and the sheep that graze the fells around the farm.
Inside, the farmhouse is warm and cosy with a large dining table ready for your wedding breakfast and the day room, which is licensed for civil marriages boasts the most spectacular views over Beda fell and Place fell beyond, meaning that even if the weather doesn’t play into your hands you can still enjoy the scenary. The farmhouse sleeps 10, with a further 4 bedrooms spread accross the Cruik Barn and stables which surround the farm house. Penrith isn’t a long drive away and there are some other accomodation options just down the road in Howtown too if you want to expand your guest list a little more.
Martindale may be small but it has two churches; the old chapel of St Martin’s is just down in the valley and the “new” church of St Peters just walk up the road if a church wedding fits your idea of the perfect wedding day.
Hause Hall’s location gives incredible access to the surrounding fells and valleys and Ullswater is only a short drive away, which gives you incredible backdrops no matter what the weather; there’s always somewhere to go to get out of the wind and hide for the rain and of course if you want mountain views for miles you can throw on your walking boots and climb Hallin Fell. I’m very happy to advise on how to get the best out of your timeline if you wish to incorporate a longer hike or extended time for portraits into your day.
Whether you’re looking for short coverage for a tiny wedding or a full day of photographs, I’m certain I have a package for you. You can read more about my photography packages here.
