Hannah and Darren chose a small intimate wedding at home in Suffolk, but having gotten engaged up here in the Lake District, they were really keen to have their wedding photographs up in the fells, so we planned an amazing adventure post wedding shoot for a few days after their ceremony while they were on honeymoon in Keswick. Now ticking off the Wainwrights, they chose Raven Crag as their fell of choice for their adventure and we spent the morning hiking (and sliding) to be treated to the most amazing rolling clouds and (by some miracle as it was school half term) a few minutes with the summit all to ourselves.

Hiking in your wedding outfits

While Darren was happy to hike up to Raven Crag in his wedding outfit, Hannah chose to do a quick change at the top (but had her hair bow in for the whole hike, which I loved!) and threw on some very bridal Timberlands too. Although her dress didn’t escape all the mud it was likely much cleaner for not doing the entire walk. If you plan on doing this I’d highly recommend bringing a bin bag (or even a trusty blue Ikea bag!) to stand on while you’re changing. Hannah’s dress was from Silk & Maple.

Raven Crag: short and sharp

Raven Crag offers lofty views over Thirlmere and a great sense of reward for a fairy short (but steep) hike. There’s a really lovely variety of exposed crags and woodland to explore on the way up and down with plenty of opportunities for photographs along the way. The whole hike took around 4.5 hours (coming back the long way to avoid the muddiest slip and slide!)

Hannah & Darren’s experience of an adventure post wedding shoot

“We had our post wedding portrait with Hannah and honestly it was the most special experience! We had a small intimate wedding at home in Suffolk but really wanted some insane photos in our favourite place, the Lake District. And that’s exactly what Hannah provided! Together we hiked up to the top of Ravencrag and took some incredible photos in our full wedding outfits. Hannah made us feel so comfortable and was such a laugh to go on a hike with. If you want more than just some photos, you will get a whole experience and special memory with Hannah Hall Photography.”

The best of both worlds

The Lake District holds a very special place in a lot of couples’ hearts but logistically it can be tricky to arrange a wedding a long way from home. Adventure post wedding shoots are a brilliant idea for couples who love the idea of photos in the fells or by a lake but choose to have their wedding closer to home; it also means they can give up a bigger window of time for their photos than a typical wedding day allows without feeling guilty that they’re leaving their guests to fend for themselves for a few hours on their wedding day.

If you’re planning a wedding in the Lake District, or the idea of an adventure post wedding shoot sounds like a great idea, I’d love to chat some more. Use the link below to get in touch.

After having been visiting the Lake District for around 20 years it’s always been a special place for me. Last year after Christmas me and my boyfriend returned there and walked up Raven cragg where he got down on one knee at the top. I joked at the time and said we need to get married at the top. Little did I know it’s sort of possible. I always dreamed of going back up where when I had my wedding dress on and then being able to have our first photos up there our engagement and then wedding.
Being a teacher I actually followed Hannah on TikTok and came across her wedding photos. I thought it was too good to be true that someone had actually tried and tested my idea!! Straight away I became like the FBI and found Hannahhallphotography.
Now we’re engaged we’re saving like hell to afford our dream wedding day and now this dream photography package.
I can’t wait to be able to book this when we are finally ready !!!!
