Having previously dined at The Forest Side on a visit to England, Erin & Rob decided they needed to show their nearest and dearest family and friends in Canada what it was all about and chose to hold their wedding at The Forest Side.
Erin and Rob are so stylish and I knew their outfits and styling would be show stopping; Erin’s first outfit included an elegant cape instead of a veil, and her second outfit was perfect for the dance floor. Rob wore a cool green velvet dinner jacket. Their florals were completely joyful and perfect for an English spring wedding, Brackens of Bowness smashed it out of the park as per!
The Forest Side is situated in the Lake District village of Grasmere (home of the legendary ginger bread!) and is the perfect wedding venue for keen walkers, lakeland lovers and foodies alike. While the grounds are meticulously kept and perfect for your wedding photographs, it’s also well situated for a yomp in the fells; a climb towards Fairfield for a longer day out or perhaps a quicker nip up Helm Crag if something wilder is what you’re after.
Michelin Starred Wedding Breakfast
The Forest Side really has everything you could look for in a wedding venue; the ceremony space is flooded with natural light with views over the lawn, and after turn around becomes the perfect intimate dining space to enjoy your wedding breakfast for up to 52 people… and of course, the food is sensational; the restaurant has retained it’s Michelin Star for 2025. There’s accommodation for up to 40 guests and there is plenty to do locally if your guests want to extend their visit to Cumbria for a few days around the wedding.

The perfect Lake District wedding venue
The sun shone for Erin and Rob, which really showcased the Lake District in all its glory. Erin got ready in the morning overlooking fields of tiny lambs (and tells me that sheep aren’t all that common in Canada!) having been for a run around Rydal to start her day.
I absolutely adored Erin at Rob’s wedding at The Forest Side, their family and friends were so fun (and Canadians, unlike us Brits, are happy to fill the dance floor the second the music starts!) This was my first visit to this incredible place, and I really hope not my last. If you’re a planning a wedding at The Forest Side yourself, I’d love to chat more about your day.
