I feel like I have a lot of things in common with Lauren & Jason. We love walking, dogs, autumnal Lakeland… and we chose the same wedding venue! So of couse, their intimate Hause Hall Farm wedding was always going to hold a very special place in my heart! Hause Hall Farm offers adventurous couples the perfect base to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the Lake District as well as hold their wedding celebrations, and the panoramic views accross Martindale and over towards Place Fell from the day room mean that even on the wettest of days, you still feel firmly nestled in the fells.
The weather in the run up to Lauren & Jason’s day had been exceptionally wet so they opted not to climb Hallin Fell and instead we explored some of the crags up above Ullswater before heading down to Sandwick Bay. Lauren & Jason planned a brilliant day for 20 guests, entertaining them in the evening with an incredible magician, Ricky Locke rather than planning a night of dancing. They still had their first dance, however they did it outside with sparkers which felt so magical and romantic, proof that you absolutely can dance to your own beat and make the day what you want without conforming to trends or traditions.
HOW DID YOU MEET?
Jason and I met in our late teens back in 2013 working part time at Sainsbury’s. I remember our first interaction was Jason leading the checkout shift and coming to sit at the end of my till for a chat and then getting a shock when I set the conveyor belt to move underneath him! We became best friends very quickly after that!
TELL ME YOUR PROPOSAL STORY:
It was in the height of the 40 degree heatwave in 2022! Jason treated me to a trip away for my birthday up in Wales with the idea that we were going to walk up Snowdon (where he originally planned to propose!). We got to our cottage in the hills and we were looking down at our view of the Welsh valleys when Jason got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! There was lots of happy tears and our dog Pepper was zooming around the garden with excitement!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HAUSE HALL FARM FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY?
We chose a Hause Hall farm wedding because we felt it completely represented our relationship and lives together. We both live in a southern commuter town but we are very much northern countryside souls who love the peace and quiet with views over rolling mountains and hills. We wanted our wedding to be extremely intimate and private but surrounded by love from our closest family and this was the perfect setting for that. A real home from home.
WHAT WAS IT YOU LOVED ABOUT YOUR OUTFITS AND ACCESSORIES THAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THEM?
I feel my dress was perfect for setting. It was simple with a little bit of sparkle and extremely comfortable! I also loved wearing my wedding converse and wellies throughout the day, you really have to opt for comfort! For Jasons suit we loved the colours so much, it captured the autumnal colours and went so well with our flowers.
TELL ME ABOUT THE VISION YOU HAD FOR YOUR WEDDING INCLUDING YOUR THEME/COLOUR SCHEME/STYLING/FLOWERS:
Our main vision was the capture the theme of cosy autumn. We wanted lots of oranges and red with candles and pumpkins. We were extra lucky with the venue because the autumn colours were in full bloom and the feel of the cottage is very cosy and warm.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?
We decided on two songs for our first dance because why not! We started our first dance with Runaway by The Corrs: we chose this song as we were building our wedding playlist to play during our dinner and it was so nostalgic and felt it represented our wedding perfectly as this was a wedding venue very far from home so we literally running away! Then it transitioned too a cover of Take Me Home Country Road and I Will Always Love You by Dominic and The Hurricanes. Jason is a big country fan and we both love singing and dancing in the kitchen to this song so we wanted to play this for everyone to sing and dance too!
WHAT WERE THE MOST WONDERFUL PARTS OF THE DAY FOR YOU?
The most wonderful parts of the day was the ceremony when we first saw each other and saying our vows. It was such an emotional ceremony and you could feel so much love in the room. It was very surreal.
We also loved going out for our wedding photos, having that one on one time catching up about each others mornings and having a laugh when my veil fell out of my hair and smothering Jason!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HANNAH HALL PHOTOGRAPHY AS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER, AND WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE DAY?
We chose Hannah because we instantly fell in love with her style and how she captured so much emotion in her photos, and then when we found out she also got married at Hause Hall it was like fate! She was the perfect photographer for our day and by the end of the night felt like one of the family.
Hannah had so much advice for us and was by our side throughout the whole day which was such a comfort for both of us. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR BEST BIT OF ADVICE TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Our advice for other couples planning their wedding would be to really focus on what you want for your day, especially if you’re planning a small / micro wedding! It’s your day so invest in the things that mean the most to you! And of course you can’t go wrong hiring Hannah as your wedding photographer, her engagement and advice are invaluable and her photography will capture your day in the most magical and emotional way.
