Having gotten married there in October 2021 myself it was great to head back to Martindale for Zoe & Sam’s autumnal Hause Hall wedding. They planned an intimate wedding celebration with just their immediate family and Apollo the dog in attendance and lucked out with a period of glorious dry weather here in the Lakes meaning they could enjoy the terrace at Hause Hall for their drinks and photographs.

Zoe and Sam are so stylish and Zoe’s simple long sleeved dress (with a serious slit!) really complimented Sam’s black tie outfit, but I really loved it when Zoe changed into her Doc Marten boots when we headed out for portraits, such an iconic look.

Why I think an autumnal Hause Hall wedding is perfect

I don’t think the colours of autumn in the Lake District can be beaten. The leaves on the trees and the ferns give in to the change of season and turn to a wonderful shades of orange and the sun never gets quite so high in the sky giving everything a gentle glow. Hause Hall sits in the hamlet of Martindale and there are endless backdrops for photographs that make the most of the landscape within a short walk meaning you don’t need to leave your guests for long to get epic portraits. Of course, adventurous couples might like to yomp up Hallin Fell if time allows but you can still get lofty gains with easy and lake access is also only a short drive away and the inker blues of Ullswater are mysterious and enticing.

Zoe and Sam took a walk up to to the crags with me for their portraits and we were able to get a lovely variety of wedding portraits in a short amount of time, then we were table to get back for cake cutting (how incredible are Zoe’s cake baking skills?!) and some candids before I left them and their family to enjoy their wedding breakfast.

HAUSE HALL; a familiar old friend
