I absolutely love that couples are increasingly carving out the days they want for their weddings, not the days they think they should have, and Megan & Jack’s day was exactly that. With strong sentimental links to the Lake District they started looking for venues to have their tiny wedding a discovered the Fairbank Wedding Barn elopement package online. Perfect for just a handful of guests, their elopement package includes two night’s self catering accommodation for 10 people, use of the gardens and a trip up to their private tarn for photographs; the view from up there is incredible, looking out over the Coniston range right over to the Langdale Pikes and offers complete privacy as there are no footpaths up there, so really perfect for couples who hate being in the limelight.
Megan and Jack invited just their closest friends, as well as their beloved dog Archie and were able to marry outside on the lawn which also offers a fell backdrop, which I think is one of the best selling points of Fairbank Barn (for a tiny wedding or a huge one!) After I left them they headed down to Windermere to paddle board and got takeaway pizza, which sounds like the most perfect post wedding activity to me!
Thanks so much Megan and Jack for letting me be a little part of your day, it really was a joy.
If you’re planning a wedding or elopement at Fairbank Wedding Barn, or indeed elsewhere in the lakes, I’d love to chat more about your day.

How did you meet?
We met on bumble! 6 and a half years ago now!
Tell me your proposal story
We were on holiday in the Lake District and Jack kept saying he wanted to take me star gazing. I then preceded to fall asleep on the sofa at 8pm! When I woke up, Jack took me outside and proposed under the stars with my great grandmas ring – he was very nervous and it was very sweet!
Why did you choose a Fairbank Wedding Barn elopement for your wedding day?
The Lake District has always been special to us, especially since our proposal. We knew we wanted a tiny wedding and when we found Fairbank Barn it looked perfect!
What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?
I love florals so my dress was a no brainer! For Jack, we of course had to find a suit that matched Archie’s bow tie!!
Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding?
It was all very relaxed and we didn’t have much of a plan! My flowers were a random assortment of wild flowers from one of my friends allotments! Somehow without any planning, our guests all coordinated perfectly on the day!
What were the most wonderful parts of the day for you?
Everything was so wonderful! The ceremony was perfectly emotional and chaotic with our crazy pup and two of our friends little boys running around! Visiting the tarn for photos was an amazing experience and then following this up with a wedding breakfast of take away pizza was just perfect! We ended our day paddle boarding on lake Windermere – it was everything we dreamed of and more!
Why did you choose Hannah Hall Photography as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?
The moment I saw Hannah’s instagram I knew she was the perfect photographer for us! She put us both at ease before the wedding by chatting to us a few times via video call and was happy to answer all our questions! We were both a little nervous about having our photos taken on the day, but Hannah made it a wonderful experience. We spent the whole time laughing. She also captured the most fantastic pictures of our dog Archie being his usual bonkers self which we will treasure forever! All of our guests commented on how lovely Hannah was and how easy it was to chat to her. Having Hannah as our photographer was another highlight of our day!
What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?
Your wedding is all about you! Do it however you want to and don’t worry too much about other people’s opinions!
