Some of the best Lake District Hotel Wedding Venues
Having everything you need at your disposal and often a dedicated team to help plan and run your wedding, its easy to see why a Lake District hotel wedding venue is the obvious choice for many couples, particularly as so many who marry here in Cumbria aren’t local and are invited friends and family from all over the UK and beyond to their wedding.
The Lake District boasts a lot of hotel wedding venues, each different and unique with lots of different packages on offer for all kinds of weddings, from “just the two of us” packages for elopements right up to full days for a larger number of guests.
Below I’ve briefly tried to summarise what makes each of these hotel wedding venues unique, whether you want a spa experience, indoor and outdoor ceremony options or fell view, you’re bound to find the perfect venue for you here in the Lake District.
Lodore Falls
Lodore Falls has one of the very best backdrops for outdoor ceremonies in the whole of the Lake District. On the edge of Derwentwater, not far from Keswick in the Borrowdale Valley, the fells sit behind you as your walk up the aislse and your guests sit below the imposing crags of Surprise view. There is of course and indoor option if the weather doesn’t play ball!
Lodore Falls also offers a really lovely spa on site and a Japanese restaurant if you’re extending your stay.

Cragwood Country House
The perfect quintessential Lake District country house, Cragwood offers wood panelled rooms and private lake access; it’s boathouse has become a pretty iconic Lake District wedding photograph!
The hotel offers a variety of packages, starting with an elopement package for two (staff or your photographer tend to act as your witnesses) up to full day weddings where you can even have tipis on the lawn to make the most of the view.

The Haweswater Hotel
Although a reservoire, not a lake, Haweswater offers a wildness that is seldom found on the eastern side of the Lake District. A road runs down one side to a dead end so the only cars who pass tend to be walkers off for a day in the fells and the views aren’t interruped by boats and paddlers.
The Haweswater Hotel is an art deco delight, stylish and elegant with gorgeous rooms for your guests to stay in and a delicious menu for dining from.

It also has a terrace for ourdoor ceremonies with a view straight down the lake and is a great location for starting a walk up to Troutbeck or Wansfell.
The grounds are immaculately kept and full of colour in the summer months and it’s just a short drive to plenty of road side spots if you want slightly wilder locations for your wedding portraits.
