I’m a girl who has the sea in her blood; I grew up in Norfolk and took living near the coast for granted. Now that I’m smack bang in the middle of the country, I literally couldn’t be further from the coast if I tried so when my couples want to shoot at the beach I just can’t resist. It’s dodgy territory when a shoot is two hours or more away from home as you never really know what the weather’s going to be doing by the time you get there… And that’s exactly the gamble I took last week when I headed to Aldeburgh beach in Suffolk for Kirsty and Jonathan’s prewedding shoot: The forecast said grey and over cast. The forecast LIED!
I think there’s some good fortune to be had as far as me and the coast go… There was that time we had our own family photos taken at Holkham and the forecast said heavy rain and the skies screamed Bahamas. There was also the last shoot I did at Aldeburgh beach in the middle of winter that could easily have been mistaken for summer at times (although there were moments that looked like the apocalypse too) and when I arrived in Aldeburgh, I was pretty taken aback at just how lucky we’d got…
Kirsty and Jonathan are super cute and easy going in front of the camera. They’re getting married at Bateman’s Barn, one of my very favourite wedding venues later this year and I’ve just got a feeling it’s going to be a smasher. Until then… Here’s all the joy of two love birds at the coast.
