Wedding at The Woodlands, Hothorpe Hall | Amy + Kyle

Photography, Wedding photography

Amy and Kyle chose to hold their wedding at The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall back in May and I’ll remember it as the first wedding I ever wore a straw hat to, as well as one of the most fun and fearless portrait sessions I’ve ever shot where we LITERALLY trampled down undergrowth that was nearly as tall as me, got stung by nettles and lived to tell the tale! Amy and Kyle are such sweet souls… Here’s my fifteen frames a long with a little bit of their perspective on the big day!

How did you meet?
We met at school, I am best friends with Kyle’s cousin and in the last year at school we got together.

Tell me your proposal story:
We love going to Stratford upon Avon and always visit the Shakespeare places, so Kyle took me there for the night and when we were walking around Anne Hathaway’s cottage he got down on one knee and proposed!

Why did you choose the venue you chose for your wedding day?
We chose The Woodlands because as soon as we got there to have a look around there was an instant relaxed feeling to the place. All the grounds surrounding were just incredible, all the little details like the log slices everywhere just had a really natural feel to it.

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?
I always knew I wanted a lace wedding dress with sleeves, it was the first wedding dress I had ever tried on and I instantly fell in love with it! My necklace and earrings were made by a friend of Kyle’s mum which was really special. And for my shoes, cheap and comfy!!

Kyle rented his suit and has always liked the navy blue, he had a different waistcoat to stand out from the rest of the boys and had his pocket watch which I gave him as a gift on the morning and his boxing gloves cufflinks as he loves the sport.

Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding including your theme/colour scheme/styling/flowers:
We knew that we had to go with a woodland theme!! So we had acorns, wooden love hearts, log slice name cards to try and create a really rustic/natural feel to it. We wanted the flowers all white to keep it really simple and classy. Then to add a subtle colour we had the bridesmaids in grey and had the bows on the chairs the same colour.

What was your first dance and why did you choose it?
We had Goo Goo Dolls Iris. I think that was decided way before we even go engaged! Since we first got together it had been ‘our song’ so we always knew it would be our first dance. It wouldn’t have felt right to of had anything else, and for the band to play it live was the cherry on the top!

What were the most wonderful parts of the day for you?
It’s so hard to pin point certain parts of the day as it was all just so special! We both said how nice it was to have everyone there that we love and care about all in one place at the same time, the sun was shining and everyone seem to be so relaxed. That’s all we could of asked for. The whole day was just brilliant.

Why did you choose Hannah Hall Photography as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?
As soon as we found Hannah on Facebook we instantly loved her style! Very modern and relaxed feel to her pictures, no cheesy stuff!!! Then we met her and we liked her straight away!! The pre wedding photo shooting was such a good thing for us as it helped with our confidence massively! On the day she was awesome and we both said how much of a comfort it was to have her there, nothing was too much trouble! We’re sooooo happy with our photographs and will cherish them forever.

What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding.
Don’t stress!! Because whatever happens you will have the best day ever! Our DJ didn’t turn up, did it spoil our day? Not one bit! You never know what is going to happen so all you can do is just enjoy every second, because the day is over in a flash! So take in every moment, love, laugh and remember the reason why you are there.
