Two Day Italian Wedding Celebration in Leeds

Autumn wedding, Wedding photography, Yorkshire weddings

Last October I had the pleasure of capturing Gaetano and Luca’s beautiful two-day Italian wedding celebration in Leeds.

After starting the day shooting their portraits at Kirkstall Abbey, we headed over to Leeds Town Hall where their friends and family had gathered for their ceremony. Afterwards we popped to a super cool bar, Nation of Shopkeepers for an Aperol before shooting a few more portraits.

The second day was full of energy, with a traditional Italian feast at Tapino’s in Cleckheaton. Gae and Luca exchanged vows instead of speeches and although they were in Italian, it didn’t matter because I could *feel* what they were saying. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

This was my first time photographing a wedding in Leeds, and I hope not the last. Luca & Gae’s wedding was so vibrant, full of happiness and joy; it’s certainly a wedding I wont forget. Thanks for having me along, you two.

How did you meet?

At university, through mutual friends

Tell me your proposal story:

It was 2020, a really bad year for everybody because of the COVID. Gae is a nurse, so he was particularly distressed and he decided that particular bad year had to give us at least a joyful moment and so he thought to propose to Luca in a lovely sunny day at the end of December.

Why did you choose the venue you chose for your wedding day?

We went to Tappino’s during summer 2022 and we completely fell in love with the rustic vibes and obviously with the Italian food.
The owner is super welcoming and friendly, so we decided to use his restaurant for our party.

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?

The colours. Green and red are our favourite colours and they were perfect with the autumn spirit.

What was your first dance and why did you choose it?

Our first dance was in Kirkstall Abbey while Hannah was shooting her photos. We put our favourite song on and we danced. This made us feel more comfortable.

What were the most wonderful parts of the celebration for you?

Our vows. We could not stop laughing and crying!

Why did you choose Hannah Hall Photography as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?

We saw Hannah’s Instagram profile and we loved her style; genuine photos, nothing too fancy or complicated, perfect for our wedding idea.

Our experience of working with Hannah has been amazing! We could not have asked for a better photographer on our special day.

What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?

Ask Hannah if you have a doubt, she will come up with an idea or something that you had not think of. She really helped us and she went beyond her job.
