If a hotel feels restrictive but you’re still lookingfor luxury and the comforts of being at home, perhaps a Lake District manor house wedding venue is for you. In Cumbria there are plenty of options to consider, but it’s also worth looking outside the Lake District and extending your search a little wider; the Eden Valley offers some wonderful venues with views back towards the lakes and over the Pennines and you could introduce your guests to less well known but equally wonderful part of Cumbria.
ASKHAM HALL
Once a fortified building and now a hotel, although you’d never know it, Askhall is a real gem of a wedding venue on the edge of the Lake District, easily accessible from Penrith and the M6. Large weddings will celebrate in the barn in the grounds but can use the lawn for an ourdoor ceremony and the main house for drinks after the ceremony. Askham Hall is blessed with endless gorgeous backdrops for your wedding photographs and also boasts a Michelin Star restaurant. If you want to marry in church, St Peter’s is a short walk down the hill.

Holesfoot
Owner Liv has done an outstanding job of bringing life back to this wonderful manor house wedding venue near the Lake District back to life. The barns on the estate hold the wedding ceremony and breakfast but prep and your drinks take place in and around the house itself, which sits in wonderfully manicured grounds with its own lake. The outdoor ceremony area is whimsical and elegant and there are plenty of accomodation options for all budgets in the surrounding area and Appleby.

Silverholme
Part of the Graythwaite Estate, overlooking the west side of Windermere, Silverholme is an incredible location for a wedding. Sleeping 18, there is ample space for your closest family and friends to stay and the lawn is large enough to hold a marquee or tipi for your wedding reception. The views overlooking the lake are wonderful; Silverholme is licensed for civil ceremonies and really is the Lake District manor house wedding venue that has it all!
