This year has been full of sweet intimate weddings and I’ve been lucky enough to go back to some of my favourite venues to photograph them. The Coppermines really is a venue like no other – set high up in the fells in the shadow of The Old Man of Coniston himself, it’s the perfect venue for couples who don’t want a wedding package and want to plan a day that suits them; all my Coppermine’s couples have been big hill walkers so a venue on the side of a mountain really felt like home for them.

Lizzie and Bryn got married in the barn and held their drinks and lunch up in the hills before heading down to Coniston village for dinner; they allowed plenty of time for their wedding photographs as the backdrops are absolutely endless and Lizzie swapped her shoes for walking boots so that nothing was off limits!

What a gorgeous day – congratulations Lizzie & Bryn! Are you planning a wedding off the beaten track? I’d love to chat more about your plans.

How did you meet?

Met at school about 16 years ago and became great friends. We stayed in touch after school and finally got together 9 years ago.

Tell me your proposal story

Bryn proposed to me while we were interrailing around Europe. He waited till we were up at a beautiful viewpoint over Lake Bled in Slovenia then got down on one knee and asked the question.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at The Coppermines?

We’ve been going to the Lake District nearly every year since we got together and Coniston was the first place we camped together. After finding an option for a smaller  wedding  it was a bit of a no brainier to choose a wedding at The Coppermines . It’s such a beautiful setting and suited both our personalities perfectly.

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?

We both felt so comfortable in our outfits and just wanted something that felt like us.  I loved that I was able to put on my walking boots and walk around the area having photos taken.

Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding

Relaxed, close friends and family. Not too much fuss. We also tried to source most things either recyclable, second hand or make it ourselves. It wasn’t perfect but it feels like we didn’t make a huge impact like a lot of weddings might.

What were the most wonderful parts of the day for you?

Having our closest family and friends with us.  It was such a relaxed environment. The setting was amazing  and was so nice to be able to have a wonder about part way through the day. Also seeing our friends children make it to the day. They won’t remember it but it was so special that all our friends could celebrate with us.

Why did you choose Hannah Hall Photography as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?

We loved Hannah’s more relaxed style as neither of us really like having our photos taken. Hannah was so lovely and helped us feel comfortable. She knew the venue and surrounding areas really well and worked with the changing weather to make sure the photos were perfect. After seeing the photos we think Hannah is a miracle worker.
