They say third time’s a charm and indeed it was for Tash and Adam, who finally had their Furtho Manor wedding earlier this year, nearly two year’s later than planned… But it was absolutely worth the wait and their friends and family celebrated hard to make up for it! Furtho Manor is a brilliant DIY wedding venue in South Northamptonshire and the perfect blank canvas to plan and style your wedding day just the way you want it. Tash and Adam planned their ceremony indoors inside the barn with an incredible fairly light chandelier above them, and their styling was rustic and in keeping with the surroundings at Furtho Manor.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

We met at university in the Music Society. Adam was the Chairman and Tash was a member. We got chatting one evening, went on a few dates and that was that!

TELL ME YOUR PROPOSAL STORY

Adam bought the ring in 2016 and kept it hidden in the guest wardrobe and then at his mum’s house whilst he worked away for most of the year.

We went on a holiday to Nice in the south of France and Adam packed the ring in the backpack. Tash didn’t even clock on at the airport that Adam suggested we go down separate security lines as a race (just incase the searched the bag!) so was oblivious when Adam popped down on one knee at the top of a viewpoint looking over the ocean and asked the question!

All of our engagement photos from the trip are quite funny as Adam got bitten on his head a few days before by a bug so has a massive lump. I still said yes!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A FURTHO MANOR WEDDING FOR YOUR BIG DAY?

We liked the idea of a totally blank canvas where we could customise every part of the wedding.

It was also really important to us to include Tash’s Indian heritage in the wedding and this way we were able to pick the food that we wanted as well without being restricted to a hotel menu.

The grounds at Furtho were also a big part of our decision – with our original date in June, we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to be outside as well as inside.

WHAT WAS IT THAT YOU LOVED ABOUT YOUR OUTFITS AND ACCESSORIES AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?

As he’s very particular, Adam needed to try on about twenty different suits before settling on a woollen, blue suit. The shoes, however, were a quick buy as he knew exactly which ones he wanted. The calla lily is Adam’s favourite flower as it’s nice and simple but elegant.

With Tash’s parents from different cultures, Indian Mum and British Dad, she knew that she wanted to try and incorporate both into her wedding dress. After trying on countless white, “traditional” wedding dresses that  weren’t doing anything for Tash’s skin colour, she decided to try a more “Indian look”. So on an ad hoc trip to an Indian wedding dress fayre in London, she stumbled across a beautiful champagne coloured dress that was the perfect combination of both cultures mixed together!

TELL ME ABOUT THE VISION YOU HAD FOR YOUR WEDDING

We actually didn’t really have a vision for the wedding in regards to themes or styling. We wanted to make use of the rustic feel that the barn already had so decided to go down that route as well as trying to just make it pretty.

We made changes to the flowers quite late on – as we had to move the wedding date a couple of times, we had more freedom to think outside the box which meant we landed on having a floral chandelier over the dance floor – something we hadn’t even considered for the first wedding date.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?

Our first dance was Noel Gallagher’s acoustic cover of “Live Forever” by Oasis that he played on Radio 2 sofa sessions. Adam heard it one lunchtime whilst working at home and immediately knew it was the song for our first dance. Originally, we were going to go with “Coming Homes” by Leon Bridges as our original date was when Adam used to work away a lot more, but it didn’t feel right sticking with that so we chose the new one!

WHAT WERE THE MOST WONDERFUL PARTS OF THE DAY FOR YOU?

Being able to steal away a few minutes here and there with just the two of us. A wedding day is full of all the people you love but it is important to spend time with your new spouse as the day really is just about the two of you.

Also the ceremony – I think we found it extra special because we had been waiting so long and had put so much time and effort into out personal vows, it was just perfect to finally be able to share that with each other.

Lastly the speeches – all three men did an unbelievable job on the speeches and all were so full of love and fun!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HANNAH HALL PHOTOGRAPHY AS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER, AND WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE DAY?

We loved Hannah’s style as we felt like it told a story of the day – each photo is filled with emotion and perfectly captured the day, when we saw other couples pictures, we knew we wanted that for our own.

After this though, it just felt like we’d hired a friend who’d just happened to be incredibly talented! Her personal touches made it feel like we weren’t forced to take the “traditional” wedding pictures with lots of uncomfortable posing.

On the day, Hannah made us feel extremely comfortable and went above and beyond what we’d expect her to do – including provide suncream and sunglasses storage! To be honest, through most of the day, we didn’t even realise there was someone taking pictures of us because we never felt uncomfortable around Hannah. The whole experience was faultless and I think the pictures speak for themselves.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR BEST BIT OF ADVICE TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Don’t compromise on the things that mean the most to you. For us that was food, photography and the party! You really do get what you pay for and had we compromised on these aspects in order to save a few pennies, our day would not have been as smooth sailing as it was.

Don’t stress – your guests won’t know if something didn’t go exactly to plan, so  it’s not worth worrying about!
