Colourful Mini Eggs Themed Wedding at Huntsham Court

Naomi & Frank… Where do I begin? These two are so fun, so eclectic, so clever, so loved… And their day was literal perfection. I absolutely loved their mini egg themed wedding, full of the pretty colours of spring and their personalised touches everywhere. I particularly loved how Frank’s dad was honoured by the presence of his car and all the groomsmen wearing his fabulous colourful bowties – just so thoughtful.

The weather for their day at Huntsham Court was wild; hail, high winds and a unseasonably chill in the air but after rain usually comes beautiful light and we were able to get out for some lovely golden hour portraits.

Naomi & Frank, I have loved getting to know you both and it was such a pleasure to photograph your day.

How did you meet?

We met on a budget airline flight heading out to Japan for the rugby World Cup. Naomi had her extended family and some friends in tow, whereas Frank was flying solo pretending he was on his way to Japan for an ophthalmology conference that just so happened to be the same time as the World Cup… coincidence it was not. Numbers were exchanged and Frank visited Cardiff a few months later.

Tell me your proposal story

We had just got the keys to our new house and after a three day party with Frank’s friends decided to take a couple of boxes over on a couple of sore heads. Before stepping over the threshold Frank dropped his keys as a rouse to get onto one knee and blindside the fragile Naomi!

Why did you choose Huntsham Court for your wedding day?

We were blown away with how gorgeous it was as soon as we stepped foot into the hallway. Loved being able to have the majority of our guests (100) on site Friday to Sunday meaning we could squeeze as much celebrating and socialising with them all as possible. The no corkage and free rein on vendors meant that we could spend years curating our weekend menu and drinks list!

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?

Naomi felt like Sarah Jessica Parker as soon as she stepped into her dress and the seamstress added the sleeves and made a new belt to give it the extra pizzazz she was looking for! Her shoes were from Kat Maconie which is the one brand she allows herself to splurge on once a year! Frank was chuffed that he could wear his father’s bow tie and lend them to his ushers as well.

Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding including your theme/colour scheme/styling/flowers

Our theme was Mini Eggs and and good vibes. We chose colour wherever possible, and wanted the day to feel quite relaxed and left the flowers to our friends who did an amazing job and we better than anything we could’ve picked from Pinterest!

What was your first dance and why did you choose it?

Our first was Dive by Olivia Dean because we saw her last year down on Barn on the Farm, Naomi had been a fan for a good few years but Frank was also taken by her after that weekend. The words in the song resonated with how we felt and it was a song we could dance to.

What were the most wonderful parts of the day for you?

Hands down the wedding breakfast- nerves had dissipated by that point and we were excited to eat and drink the goodies we’d spent ages picking and get a chance to speak to our nearest and dearest. We also loved the build up on the morning of the wedding, spending time apart with our friends got us super excited to see each other on either side of the aisle.

Why did you choose Hannah Hall Photography as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?

We were recommended Hannah by Naomi’s colleague. We loved Hannah’s vibe on her Instagram and especially the cute candids of mischievous kids and stolen glances. Very happy with our decision, from the first meeting we could tell we were on the same page and were confident that she would be brilliant on the day – which she was. She went above and beyond to capture all the important bits of the day.

What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?

Enjoy the months of preamble looking into and trying all things you love (we used the excuse of ‘wedding research’ to try wines, beers and fish and chips for over a year). Don’t be pressured into spending money on things you’re not bothered about, but if YOU really want something and can stretch your budget, then do it, we didn’t regret spending a penny on the things we wanted. Have fun!
