When I first bought a DSLR camera I spent HOURS reading, trying to understand how to use manual mode, get my head around what f-stops were and figure what made different lenses good for different things… I’m a super kinaesthetic learner and attending a beginners photography workshop would have helped me no end… I used to be a teacher, and having spent a couple of years out of the classroom and behind the lens as a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and after a successful workshop back in March I’m super excited to be running my second workshop this September; this is a workshop designed for people who own a DSLR camera but have never got any further than using it in automatic (or maybe even getting it out of the box!!) and would like to know how to better control their camera and pick up some ideas of how to shoot more exciting, creative images too. It’s a hands on kind of day with as little theory as I can get away with, so you will need to bring your own DSLR and at least one lens (please bring spare batteries too!) and expect to use your camera a lot!
When? Sunday 10th September 2017, 10:30 – 4:00
Where? The Stanwick Hotel, Northamptonshire (as well as shooting at Stanwick Lakes)
How much? £79 including tea/coffee and a light lunch.

I had great fun on Hannah’s Push My Buttons course. Considering my camera is quite old and not as technically clever as some of the other group members cameras, I learned so much about how to use mine and can already take much better photos just by knowing what to do with it. It was great being able to practice with Hannah there to offer guidance and advice and she showed us loads of techniques on how to set up a good frame. I’ve really enjoyed taking photos of my little girl since then and feel that by knowing the science behind creating a good photo, I’m able to be more creative and have more fun! And now it seems I’m better at taking photos than my husband!
