The weather this year has either hot and blindingly bright, or wet. Or possible very wet. Up here in the Lake District, us photographers are experienced in working in bad weather (see my tips for rainy Lake District weddings here!) and I really love it when my couples embrace the weather on their day. Anna & Rachael chose a Storrs Hall elopement for their legal wedding and chose to marry just the two of them in the garden pavilion overlooking Windermere; our registrars are some of the most lovely and accommodating folk you’ll ever find at a wedding, and despite the heavy rain, they agreed to letting the ceremony take place outside, just running back inside to sign the paperwork – the perfect compromise!

Brackens of Bowness had worked their floral magic on the pavilion, which looked incredible and Rachael & Anna exchanged the most beautiful, heartfelt, personalised vows I’ve ever heard while the rain came down and there wasn’t a dry eye between us. It was peaceful, romantic and completely magical. It was a real pleasure to be part of their ceremony and I absolutely adored my short time with them photographing their day at Storrs.

After making sure we got some cake cutting photographs and some portraits inside, we headed outside to embrace the weather, first recreating one of Anna’s favourite photographs of her grandparents from their wedding day, and then heading down to the lake… Scroll down for an unexpected moment… and panic not, I was straight on recovery duties and no veils were harmed in the making of these photographs!!!

If you’re planning a Storrs Hall elopement of your own, or indeed an elopement anywhere here in the Lake District I’d love to chat some more. Do get in touch for more info or to arrange a chat.

The perfect location for a Lake District Elopement

Situated on the shores of Windermere, a Storrs Hall elopement is perfect for couples who want a picture perfect location to get married, along with stylish, luxurious accommodation in one of the suits or the boathouse. Most importantly, knowing that the weather can be like here, Storrs Hall offers beautiful indoor and outdoor locations so if the weather really isn’t good enough for an outdoor ceremony, the Study, filled with natural light, still offers views over the lake. Similarly the rest of the hall offers endless backdrops for indoor photographs and you can spend hours exploring the grounds for your wedding portraits after the ceremony. Storrs Hall elopement packages offer great value for money, including two nights accommodation, dinner and breakfast as well as wedding planning advice and support from the team.

“Hannah was the photographer for our Storrs Hall elopement and did SUCH an incredible job. We both kept gasping when we saw the photos (which she also sent us the day after our wedding – so much faster than we ever expected and so appreciated!). If you want someone who’s just bloody good at their job, will put you completely at ease and who’ll feel like part of your day in such a special way, definitely book Hannah for all your photography needs! We couldn’t have asked for more gorgeous photos to be our keepsake from our favourite day ever.”
